Ron Brownstein used to report political news at the L.A. Times, but just recently shifted to the opinion pages. Here he analyzes recent polling data on the Democratic race for president. Basically, he argues that Hillary Clinton has a leg up on Barack Obama because she leads among groups that have more numerical clout. One interesting finding: Hillary's strongest support comes from working women, what some people call "waitress moms," and this appeal cuts across race. (She beats Obama among black working women as well as white.)
