This, from Richard Florida,, is a "singles' map" of major American cities. The blue dots represent cities that have more single men than single women--the red, vice versa.
Generally, the west is "blue," the east "red." Florida himself thinks that it's because there are more "guy jobs" in the west--like construction and IT. Men will move to jobs, where women won't as much. Not sure if I buy it, but that's what he said.
