"Authoritarian tribalists" (traditional chiefs ruling despotically over cowering subjects) is a great term describing the antinomians enrobed with conceded power who "lord it over" their "tribes". It matters not whether they are African Shaka chiefs (about whom I first heard the term), American conservative whackjobs (e.g. Hagee, Dobson, Robertson, etc.) or American liberal whackjobs (e.g. Wright, Fleger, etc.) I say down with them all, conservative and liberal alike.

Frank, you and I seem to think quite a bit alike.

I will say, though, that I elevate Jeremiah Wright a notch or two above the others I've mentioned. No, I don't agree with everything he's said, but at least he seems to have some depth and intelligence.
