Senator Ted Stevens, Republican of Sarah Palin's home state, is convicted of corruption. Jewish extremists are behind the anti-Obama "Obsession" video now hitting the nation's mailboxes. Paid McCain robo-callers walk off the job because they can't stomach the stuff they're supposed to say.
Skinheads are busted for plotting to assassinate Sen. Obama and 100 other people. Sarah Palin's wardrobe continues in the news, along with reports of dissension between her and McCain. As if all that weren't bad enough for McCain, people are laughing at him too.
Nothing they've tried has worked. Some of their supporters seem unhinged. His opponent draws huge enthusiastic crowds. Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee spends $6,000 on chocolate elephants. Frankly, it's a semi-miracle that McCain is only about 7 points down.

I don't see it as a miracle, John. I think it's because his opponent has many negatives of his own. His campaign has been cleaner, but when you're ahead you tend to take the high road. We've seen what the Obama campaign does when the race is close.

Good point, but I've never seen a more clueless campaign than McCain's.
