And I just assumed that "Mumbai" was the correct name, and Bombay the anglo name. Well, I'll feel free to call it Bombay then, which has always conjured up images of adventure travel for me.

You might want to check out the whole article. They're may be an etymological connection between the two words--or not. Also, it turns out that it's not all that unusual for Indian cities to change names--Chennai, for example.
