Gov. Ritter has chosen Bernie Buescher, until recently a western slope legislator, as Secretary of State. Does this indicate that he may choose Andrew Romanov for U.S. Senate?
What to do with former Speaker Romanov? Everyone agrees that he has, and should have, a political future, but, until the recent roil in Colorado politics, had no clear shot at any office commensurate with his stature and talent.
Surprisingly, he has more support on the left than one would have thought. He has apparently won the ProgressNow poll, followed by Cong. DeGette and Mayor Hickenlooper--(not that that necessarily means anything; Ken Gordon overwhelming won the ProgressNow poll for Secretary of State). Who knew, though, that the center-left Romanov and Hickenlooper would score so well with the activists?
Complicating the decision, the Colorado Independent published a poll which indicates that not only would Mayor Hickenlooper beat the pants off the opposition in 2010, so would Cong. John Salazar.
