There's a move afoot to boycott General Motors in order to make a statement on behalf of free enterprise.
...the bailout is triggering a backlash that has some arch-conservatives calling for an all-out boycott of the makers, and especially of “Government Motors,” as critics call it, which will emerge from bankruptcy with the Treasury Department holding more than 60% of the “new” GM’s stock.
Doesn't that work against the interests of the United States? If, through its government, the people now own a majority of General Motors, it would seem to be in the peoples' interest to buy General Motors products. (Amid all the angst over the automobile industry, one might keep in mind that we have pumped forty times as much money into the banking industry with very few questions asked.)
Since the promoters of this idea seem to want to strike a blow for free enterprise, will they refuse to call the socialistic police force if their house is burglarized, or will they boycott the local socialistic fire department if their house is on fire?

During the peak of gas prices, I overheard some not-so-bright men discussing how people weren't gonna take it--they would get to the point where they'd just run out of gas and leave the cars on the side of the road. The implication seemed to be that this would show those politicians. I'm not sure how, but it seemed pretty clear to them.
