Luciano Marabese did not like it that Italian churches had suspended the practice of keeping holy water in open fonts. He invented a sanitary holy water dispenser which functions like an automatic soap dispenser in public lavatories. Waves your hand under a sensor and the machine spurts out holy water.
Italians had been avoiding open holy water, and some churches had removed them, because of fear of the H1N1 virus. About 15 Italians have died from it.
