Old joke: Two guys out playing golf, one of them keeps swearing up a blue streak, long about the 13th hole the clouds form up and a lightning bolt hits the guy who was not swearing, whereupon the guy who was swearing says, "Why'd you hit him? I was the one who was doin' all the cussin'," whereupon the Lord God says, "I tried to hit you, but I sliced."
This is illustrative of the latest GOP strategy to sink health care reform which is to pray for its supporters to die. As Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) has put it, "What the American people ought to pray is that somebody can’t make the vote tonight. That’s what they ought to pray." He was referring to aged Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) who has been in very frail for some months.
Some guy called C-SPAN this morning worried that his prayers for Sen. Robert Byrd (D-WV) to die might have "sliced" and hit Sen. James Inhofe instead. (Inhofe missed a procedural vote this morning.)
Coburn's a charmer.

And he's one of the better ones--in terms of being a normal human being, I mean.
