Forget the gasbags on TV. Most of them spout the conventional wisdom of the Villagers, which is that the administration must move to the right. They say the Massachusetts results indicate opposition to health care reform and opposition to the administration's "overreaching."
They don't know what they're talking about, as per usual. A poll commissioned by the AFL-CIO tells the real tale: Coakley failed with the white working class. She won college graduates by five points, but lost non-college voters by twenty points.
Voters believed the government had helped Wall Street (61%) but only 18% said it had helped the average working citizen. 47% said the government had not done enough, versus 32% who thought the government had "overreached."
