500 guests joined Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver for a moving and powerful presentation at the affiliate's 7th Annual Breakfast for Humanity event on Thursday, May 6th.
Main speaker for the event was Habitat for Humanity International's new CEO, Jonathan Reckford. Reckford, an ordained Presbyterian pastor, became CEO in 2005, following Habitat founder, Millard Fuller.
Heather Lafferty, Metro Denver Habitat's Executive Director, outlined the affiliate's accomplishments, and challenged attendees to help Habitat build 200 more homes in the next five years.
Habitat homeowner, Mary Ann Mosquera spoke about her experience with Habitat. Mary Ann has lived in her home for 2 years and is now attending college while working for a transitional housing agency.
Donations from the event totalled more than $80,000. Metro Denver Habitat funds its administrative costs through profits from its home improvement outlets. All donations, therefore, go directly to help Habitat build more homes.
