Cong. Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) thinks the GOP caucus needs weekly lessons on the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights.
One of the people she thinks should lecture the GOP is David Barton, who made a name for himself by calling himself an "historian" and saying that the Founding Fathers of our country were all evangelical Christians.
Today, he calls church-state separation a "myth," thinks James Madison regarded the 10 Commandments as the basis for the United States government, and opines that Thomas Jefferson advocated "Christian principles" in government, none of which is true.
He also believes that God designed the boundaries of the United States, and, in fact, all the countries of the world, which is why he's against illegal immigration. The man truly has no idea what he's talking about. No wonder Bachmann likes him.
This is not to say that classes on the Constitution are a bad idea. In fact, it's a great idea. How fortunate that we have a constitutional lawyer available in the White House! I'll bet he could make time in his schedule to educate the Republicans.
