It's "game on" in Wisconsin. Recall petitioners have now filed petitions against the third vulnerable GOP state senator. A change of three seats swings the chamber to the Democrats.
The three vulnerable senators are Dan Kapanke, who comes from a Democratic district, Randy Hopper, whose girlfriend managed to get a cushy job on the state payroll and whose now ex-wife signed the recall petition, and now Luther Olsen, who currently represents a marginally Democratic district.
In each case, the recall petitioners have half again as many signatures needed, which, in itself, is a remarkable achievement. Wisconsin law sets a high bar for signatures and only gives you two months to get them. The organizers of this effort did that, and then some.
The recall effort will continue in the five other districts. Also, the GOP is also mounting a recall effort against eight Democratic senators. With the deadline only two weeks away, however, the GOP hasn't been making any announcements.
The next step would be authentication of the signatures. After that, there will be three elections to win--not a slam dunk by any means, but doable.
