Regarding an ignorant religion--the religion of "deficit reduction," as articulated by Sen. Saxby Chambliss: the deficit is “the most significant national security interest that the United States is facing today.”
Which is saying something considering numerous wars, earthquakes, nuclear meltdowns and other signs of the apocalypse currently upon us.
Heavens sakes, people, if we do nothing at all, 75% of the so-called "deficit problem" is solved within five years.
Tell it to Obama.

I didn't see the speech, but several people whose opinion I respect were lauding it today. We'll see.

The proof is in the pudding, not pretty speeches. The speech was okay if you assume that Obama will not compromise from the position he staked out. That's a big if. I assume the rumors that Obama would wholeheartedly embrace the Catfood Commission were deliberately leaked to lower expectations.

Must have been. A couple of big bloggers fell for it hook-line-and-sinker.
