So far, three Wisconsin Democratic state senators will face a recall election on July 19. Six Wisconsin Republicans will face a recall election the week before on July 12.
The primaries against the Democrats feature bogus candidates--which may be illegal, not that that would stop them. They were rounded up by the opposition to confuse Democratic voters, generate a primary election, and string the whole thing along until the month of August, which is when the general elections will be held.
If the Democrats hold all three of their state senators, and pick up three (out of six) of the Republicans, they'll take over the senate, 17-16. Two of those six look like they'll flip.
The ground game advantage appears to be with the Democrats. They got more signatures, and quicker, than did the Republicans. In addition, public sentiment in Wisconsin seems fairly strongly against Gov. Walker.
As Chris Bowers notes, the Democrats "own the grassroots game." Tons of corporate cash might even the playing field for the GOP.
