Very much a Feminine Mystique kind of journey. Interesting that she was more outspoken than any contemporary President's wife, perhaps even than Hillary. Also an effective patron of the arts. RIP.

Strange. It occurred to me that I like the GOP first ladies--especially Pat Nixon and Nancy Reagan--more than I liked their husbands, that's for sure.
