Robert Schuller Jr., who himself was ousted from the pulpit of the Crystal Cathedral, says that his father has been voted off the Board of Directors of the Crystal Cathedral.
Schuller Jr. said his father wanted to enlarge the board, probably, it would seem, to diminish the influence of his daughter, Sheila Coleman, who is now CEO of the place. "A majority of that board consists of paid employees of the church and that's a serious conflict of interest,” Robert A. Schuller said.
Later, a spokesperson for the Crystal Cathedral said that Schuller Sr. had not been voted off the board, but "is still board chairman emeritus," though without a vote--in other words, kicked upstairs.
Meanwhile, dissidents within the church give the inside scoop:
Gwen Myers brought up a motion to remove and Rick Mysse and Gwen voted yes, Jim Penner abstained and Arvella voted no. They said the vote is 2-1 that's a majority and good bye RHS. The Schullers now speak to Sheila thru an intermediary and don't speak to Gretchen at all.
In a separate development, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange is considering making a bid for the Crystal Cathedral, which, due to debt and bankruptcy, is now up for sale. For the Diocese, spending $50 or so on a ready-built cathedral would make more sense than spending $100 million on a new one.
It's a disfunctional family business not a church of the living God.

It's starting to look that way. I do feel compelled to note that it's possible to be both.
Thanks for your visit.
