This 7 minute tribute to Sen. Kennedy aired tonight at the Democratic National Convention. It features footage from Kennedy's 1994 debate with Mitt Romney when Romney was running for Kennedy's Senate seat.
Early in the race, it appeared Romney might have a chance against Kennedy. He was close in most of the polls. Would the mighty Kennedy get knocked off?
As the two sides prepared for the debate featured in this video, Kennedy's team told their man to take time to answer questions, and not to jump too quick to an answer.
The first question to Kennedy was, "Why is this race so close?" Kennedy waited a second, then two seconds, then several seconds, but had yet to begin his answer. Was Teddy freezing up in the heat of battle?
After the debate, his aides needled him that they did, indeed, think he should take some time before answering, but what was he thinking in taking as long as he did? Kennedy replied that he was focused on the question and wondering to himself, "Yeah, why IS this race so close?"
