Colorado came in second to Hawaii--in other words, it was exceeded only by a tropical paradise--in terms of general "happiness" as measured by over-all health, life expectancy, income, education, and individual's own estimate of their well-being.
Colorado scored high mainly because of high life expectancy and low rates of obesity. "Colorado residents were also among the nation’s healthiest emotionally, and they had high evaluations of their own lives." Rounding out the top five: Minnesota, Utah, and Vermont.
Least happy? Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, and West Virginia.
