His books on the parables set the standard. I always thought he was a really good Lutheran. He was 87 years old. May he rest in peace and rise in glory. New York Times:
Mr. Capon, who lived for many years on nearby Shelter Island, wrote 27 books from 1965 to 2004, most of them works of theology or New Testament interpretation that gave voice to a passionate, entertaining and sometimes unorthodox view of Christian teachings.
I enjoyed his insights. Although I always thought he was Episcopalian.

Hi Joe. He was an Episcopal priest, but I always thought his theology was very Lutheran. Thanks for your visit.

Fr. Capon visited the Episcopal Diocese of Idaho in the spring of 1995, as key note speaking at our Spring Convocation. I was a newly converted Episcopalian. I loved his teaching, his humor, his love and gentleness. I am sorry to learn he passed from this life but believe his is lifting a cool one with Jesus and enjoying the party. Light perpetual shines upon him.

Thanks Joe. Debbie, I met him once also, at a workshop somewhere in IL. I had the same reaction as you.
