The media pundits and Washington insiders--a.k.a. the "village"--are having a fainting spell over the Obama administration's calling out of Fox news, but, then, they always do whenever a Democratic administration does or says anything, even when it says what everybody already knows--especially then, it seems.

Fox news is a party organ.  Fine.  There have been many party organs like Fox throughout American history.  Thomas Jefferson had his newspaper, The National Intelligencer, and the Federalist Party had theirs.  Said one:  The election of Jefferson would bring the "teaching of murder robbery, rape, adultery and incest".

When David Axelrod says that Fox represents a "point of view," or Raum Emanuel says that Fox represents a "perspective," they are stating a plain fact, and one which Fox news itself admits:  "We are the opposition," says Fox vice president Bill Shein.

That being the case, what sense does it make for the Obama administration to help them?

Please stop with the Susan Boyle

Sure, she's great, but what's striking about the "viral video" going around is the cruelty both of the show and the audience.  People took one look at Susan Boyle and they started rolling their eyes, and laughing in derision, including the show's hosts!  Not having watched the show before, I'm told that this is not all that unusual. 

Watching people being publicly insulted is entertainment?  This is the nation's top-rated TV show?  Why is no one protesting?  This is far more dangerous to the psychology of the country than a micro-second shot of Janet Jackson's boob. 

Other than that, it's not bad

Steve Benen on Fox News:  "It's not a news network, it has no ethical standards, it makes a mockery of modern journalism, it lies to its audience, and it's largely responsible for the confusion of millions of Americans about current events."

Isn't he supposed to be in church anyway?

Rick Warren, pastor of Saddleback mega-Church, bailed on ABC's "This Week" program.  His spokesman told ABC he was "sick with exhaustion." 

Why did he schedule himself on ABC on Easter Sunday in the first place?  Isn't he supposed to be busy on Sunday mornings?  Plus, it is Easter, after all.

Another case where the people are way ahead of the pundits

To listen to the Washington-based political bloviators, you'd think that the public is absolutely apoplectic over partisanship.  The people absolutely yearn for "sunshine and rainbows" in the Capital City, so say the High Media.  These same pundits, by the way, never seem to have this point of view when the Republicans are in the power.  Only when the Democrats are in do they suddenly see Truth and Light emanating from Sacred Bipartisanship.

The public sees right through this.  Rasmussen reports a new poll that shows that the number of people who see President Obama as a "partisan Democrat" is increasing, and, along with it, his approval rating has inched up too.  In other words, the people elected a Democrat, want him to govern as a Democrat, and, one hopes, will let him know if he does not.
